BEEKEEPER MENTORING

Learn beekeeping with someone who's done it here

One-on-one mentoring for beginner and developing beekeepers on the Cumberland Plateau — real guidance, at the hive, in our climate.

Books can only take you so far

Beekeeping is a hands-on craft — and the Plateau has its own rhythms. Summer nectar flows, humid winters, and late spring swarms don’t care what chapter you’re on. Real confidence comes from time at the hive with someone who knows the territory.

Whether you’re getting your first package settled or troubleshooting a struggling colony, mentoring puts local, experienced eyes on your bees — not a forum post.

How we work together | BEEKEEPER MENTORING

SIMPLE FROM THE START

What is beekeeper mentoring?
Beekeeper mentoring is one-on-one, hands-on guidance from an experienced beekeeper — working directly at your hive to help you develop real confidence and skills, rather than learning from books or online forums alone.
TLC Apiary offers three mentoring options: a New Beekeeper Program covering start-to-first-harvest support, single Hive Visit & Consult sessions for specific questions, and Seasonal Check-ins timed to Tennessee’s beekeeping calendar.
The New Beekeeper Program from TLC Apiary supports first-year beekeepers from installation through their first extraction, covering colony installation, hive inspections, seasonal management, and harvest.
Yes. Most mentoring takes place at the beekeeper’s own apiary so sessions work with your specific bees, your setup, and your questions — not a generic teaching environment.
Yes. TLC Apiary’s Hive Visit & Consult is a single on-site session for a specific question — re-queening, a struggling colony, winter preparation, or getting a second opinion on what you’re seeing in your hive.
Seasonal check-ins from TLC Apiary are ongoing mentoring visits timed to Tennessee’s beekeeping year — covering spring build-up, summer swarm management, fall mite treatments, and winter preparation.
Yes. TLC Apiary’s mentoring is designed for both beginner and developing beekeepers. The New Beekeeper Program is specifically built for first-year beekeepers starting from scratch.
The Cumberland Plateau has its own climate challenges — summer nectar flows, humid winters, and late spring swarms that general beekeeping resources don’t account for. TLC Apiary’s mentoring applies hands-on experience with the region’s specific conditions to every session.
TLC Apiary offers beekeeper mentoring across the Cumberland Plateau, based out of Crossville, Tennessee.
